Start Off The New Year With A Bang.

Happy 2014, everyone!

A new year always brings forth many new ideas and goals. It is as though a reset switch has been pressed and now is the perfect time to begin, anew. A fresh start to accomplish some of the things in life that seemed impossible, last year.

Allow me to begin by saying, "there is no such thing as impossible". If you desire something, you can attain it. The key word is "focus". No, you may not be able to accomplish something immediately. Sometimes, it takes time and patience to accomplish what you want, in the manner you want it. But alas, you will accomplish it, if you are consistent.

However, it is always very important to begin from within.

The old saying, "beauty is only skin deep", could not be any more true. If you do not feel good about yourself, or feel satisfied being within your own skin, this is where it all must begin.

Have you ever known an unbelievably gorgeous man/woman, who simply does not see what the mirror, or the world, says to them? I believe we all have these days, and it happens to the best of us, but society has placed a pressure upon us to strive for perfection...externally. The topic of "internal beauty" is rarely ever even mentioned.

Now, do not get me wrong, I love cosmetics. I am a makeup artist and enjoy trying new techniques, looks, and do feel pretty when I get the eyeshadow look, just right. I feel very comfortable without makeup on, as well. I believe we should keep ourselves maintained, and have good hygiene, of course, but hearing stories about women who wake up before their husbands or boyfriends just to apply makeup before their other half can see them with a naked face, makes me feel very sad for what has happened to our priorities.

Some of you may have made new years resolutions. Most resolutions include weight loss programs or new physical fitness routines. I am in no way, shape, or form, saying that their is anything wrong with this. Health is a very important thing, and as long as these goals are being worked toward in a healthy way, I will be here to support your resolution, with every step.

But remember to be realistic. It is common and very easy to fall into the habit of expecting instant results. After all, we do live in a world where instant gratification is kind of a big deal. But have no fear, if your program is not showing results as quickly as you wish. You may first need to reorganize your thought processes and prioritize the steps to achieving these goals.

Where might this start?
That's right. WITHIN.
INSIDE YOUR OWN MIND.

Our minds can be our best friend, or our biggest downfall. The mind can be the enemy. Once you have a handle on the mind, you have all the tools you need to accomplish whatever you wish.

Before I advise you to keep a food journal, I must first suggest a gratitude journal. Each day, write down three things you are grateful for. Your life is beautiful, and so are you. There are many beautiful qualities to be grateful for. You are blessed with blessings that many do not have. Your fortune may be in the form of a talent or zest for life. You may have amazing children or even a pet that you adore. Anything, no matter how "small" it seems, is something to be grateful for. Write it down in your gratitude journal. Read and reread your list, until life begins to feel a bit more fair. (Let's face it, we all feel as though things could be more fair, from time to time) Once you feel grateful for life, you will feel more equipped to take on the world, and any projects you may wish to tackle.

Also, look in the mirror and study your face until you find one thing you adore about yourself. Write it down. Focus on that.

Search your heart and find something you are proud of. Something that sets you apart. Write it down. Focus on that.

Obsess upon your positives. It is okay to love things about yourself. That does not make you vain. It makes you realize just how close you truly are to accomplishing greatness...if you have not already. You may just not realize it, yet.

My assignment for today is to focus on yourself. Write down the things in your life that make you happy.
That bring you joy.
That you are appreciative of.
Your positives.
Your strengths.

This will prepare you for everything else you will need to have in order to accomplish your goals, and achieve the life you have been yearning for.

It all begins with you.

Until my next post, celebrate yourself.
